Betawi Layer Cake or Indonesian Layered Spiced Cake is an appealing dessert, both in appearingcand taste.

This cake originally came from Indonesia and has many versions but it is also popular in Malaysia.

This is no ordinary cake. The baking process requires time and patience since the many layers are baked and grilled one at a
time.

Makes 1 x 20 cm (8 in) round or square cake.

It takes at least two hours to bake, as layer by layer was baked over a top grill. Very rich in texture and heavy, if you were to compare it to ordinary sponge cake.

The smell is heavenly. The taste, flawless and moisture. It is also luscious considering the time taken to bake it and the costly ingredients involved.
